What? Are you kidding? God may still love America, but until we all go green and force fair trade with China, then the recession is still with us. Meanwhile, there is good football.
Ah, the NFL. Been watching since they had the first Super Bowl and I really believed Joe Namath when he guaranteed the Jets would win it in 1969. Oh, yeah. That game was against the Colts, too. Only they lived in Baltimore back then.
I remember Oakland's Ray Guy punting the ball seventy yards or more (regularly) and seeing the spirit collapse on the other team when they got it on their own three. How do you like me now? He'd think while he walked off the field.
They didn't like it, of course. One minute you got 'em pinned on their own goal line, and the next that friggin' Guy is kicking it and getting a roll down to the one or something. The wind just goes out of your sails.
I remember the Saints' great kicker-with-half-a-foot Tom Dempsey knocking through a winning field goal from a record-breaking 63 yards. You gotta love that one. Link goes to the actual film of the kick.
There were some seasons that Dempsey accounted for a great number of the few wins New Orleans managed to squeak out in a typical year.
Who Dat? That question has been answered.
Say hello to the NEW 'America's Team'.
