Fred Flintstone of Bedrock, USA died peacefully on November 18 after a year-long battle with lung cancer. He was diagnosed with the disease by doctors at the Bedrock Cartoon Characters Retirement Home. Flintstone, a former quarry worker at the Slate Rock and Gravel Company, also starred in a reality show based on his own life, and the lives of his good friends Betty and Barney Rubble.

Flintstone is survived by his wife Wilma and a daughter, Pebbles. The service was held at the Bedrock Memorial Center.

His wife spoke at the eulogy, saying:

'I tried to get him to quit smoking for years...'

When he was not doing Reality TV or working at the quarry, Flintstone often did commercials as well. One of the most famous was presented at the eulogy.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Robert,

I missed the episode where Fred and Wilma adopted Bamm-Bamm from Barney and Betty. Or did Bamm-Bamm marry Pebbles and then became Fred's son-in-law?

What happened to Dino? Did he die? Was he ever replaced?

So many unanswered questions remain.

Wrong-0, both of you. According to the Complete Directory to Prime Time Network TV Shows, 1946-Present, it says: Fred worked as an operator of a dinosaur-powered crane at the Rock Head & Quarry Cave Construction Co. (slogan: Own Your Own Cave and Be Secure).
Either Fred made a career change or it was Barney at Slate and Gravel. I remember the dino-powered crane - this was a different dino than the smaller pet at home. Rather sloppy work, Robert. You must raise the level of your satire! There was the glaring error also on calling Bamm Bamm one of his children!! This is not acceptable work! ;) Back to satire school you go.
PS -- Bamm Bamm was adopted by the Rubbles (op cit). We always thought the two tykes would grow up to marry eventually.
Also, isn't it more likely that Fred's lung cancer was due to occupational exposure to stone dust? You know, just like cotton mill workers get brown lung and coal miners get black lung. And so forth.

Yeah...Gayla the Bookkeeper for AB caught the mistake on the Bamm-Bamm reference. I changed it.

Fred probably worked at both places. Cartoon writers...continuity often wasn't an exact science with them. Fred and Mr Slate often had run-ins during the show, and he was referred to as Fred's boss in several episodes.

I leaned more toward the Jetsons, anyway. (laughs)

Aaaah......poor Fred. Rest in Peace my friend and many thanks for all the happy hours you have given to me.

The Flintstones used to be one of my all-time favourite Cartoons.  As for "Winston", are they still going?

If so, they have outlived poor old Fred. :O)

It was far worse than that. Mrs. Brady. Once the spotlight left him and his family, I used to see poor Fred dumpster diving, and picking up dog ends in the street.
