'What more does the guy have to do to get American voters to vote for a black guy?' Chris Matthews of MSNBC said immediately after Barack Obama's 30-minute message to Americans. "He exemplifies the best of us, all of us...'
For about twenty-five minutes of the show, Obama spoke about his plans to bring the country together and explained both his short and long-term plans for the country in detail. Along the way, several typical American families were profiled, some of the members talking about their problems paying for their homes, food, fuel, and medicines.
Even if you don't agree with Obama's plan for America, you have to give him credit for trying to present his case for your vote in a way that ordinary people can understand.
The show closed with a live shot and the last few minutes of Obama giving a speech in Florida. Undoubtedly, the show was viewed by tens of millions of worried citizens, many of whom were probably swayed from the fence to make their choice for President.
If you missed the show, there will be a rerun of it later by MSNBC. Failing that, just ask your friends.
Someone you know probably taped the show. You can also view it in its entirety on YouTube
Is this the final nail in the coffin of the rapidly imploding McCain campaign? America will know on Tuesday night.
I felt this was a respectful and inspiring ad. Obama may not be perfect but he offers our country a chance to move beyond all of the ugliness of the last 8 years and perhaps lift ourselves up to a better plane.
it was a slick informercial with no substance
Please explain how it had no substance.
I loved that he had average Americans speaking their everyday concerns over important issues like Healthcare, the Economy and Education.
I agree, I thought it was the best part of the ad.
David Plouffe=Evil Genius
I've already cast my vote for him today. But I have to say that I was very moved by it. I thought it was great. Even people who may not agree with his policies have to give him this one it was positive, it was real and it was not over the top. It made me think what if all politicians behaved this way, maybe we wouldn't all be sick to death of it. (politics that is) Its refreshing, for the first time in my adult life I am really proud of us. I don't like the negativity, you shouldn't have to be nasty and create fear for someone to vote for you.
Gee babgrl,
I guess you are unamerican then if this is the first tiem you have been really proud of us.
[/joke]
I know that's right, I got it and that was my point. The sheer ridiculousness of it all and I'm in the military don't know how much more unamerican i can get right!
I Think it was great . I liked him the first time I heard him speak and now I just like more .Which has not happened with anyother politician I have heard .
obama has over exposed himself. he should have given the money he spent on this stupid ad to poor people.
to me, obama means serious tax hikes....no way to that Robert...sorry.
sweet zombie jesus!
Unfortunatly, that is illegal because it was a campaign donation
headinthegame
You do realize that this is almost over and both candidates have got to spend that money and spend it fast. What else is he going to spend it on, that's legal of course?
Robert,
His message presents the reason why Unions support Obama, over McCain. Thanks for the link to Youtube.
Blevins-I noticed you never bothered to ask the question What has Obama done to EARN the Presidency? What has Obama done to DESERVE the Presidency? The answer is, obviously, nothing. This nation has lost it's mind to Obamamania.
What has McCain done ?
McCain has given his life for our country many times over, and served our government for almost thirty years, while Obama has done absolutely nothing, except make speeches and steal votes(ACORN), and others. America has lost it's way to Obamamania.
If McCain was like he use to be instead who he became after he wanted to be president I might agree that he was not a bad choice .the ACORN Thing is just wrong and mcain went to there rallys . Obama's Plans and steadyness wins for me
Blevins-As much as I respect you as a writer, and journalist, you have lied. We, the American people, are on a search for the truth, and you have let us down-Big Time.
Blevins-of course you can not answer my question of what Obama has done to EARN or DESERVE the Presidency, because the answer is nothing-and you know it.
What did Lincoln do to earn or deserve the presidency?
Presidential races are about ideas and vision, not about who paid their dues.
So, Mrs. Brady, you are going to go with Obama who has only served himself, and not this country? That is Obamamania.
Yeah all that community work was for himself ? I already voted proudly and it was for my country as well as for myself .
For God's sake, Mrs. Brady, Obama is nothing more than a clerk in an ice cream store, and a community organiser, the only real jobs he has ever had-Please come to your senses America, before it is too late. This Obamamania has got to stop-and it has got to stop NOW.
first off McCain says economic 'fundamentals' strong . then he notices he is wrong a few days later and McCain says economy in crisis . which is scary I think that he did not notice before . Then he hires the same people who ran Bushes campaign when bush ran against him . Back when McCain was upset about how unfair the bush campaign was .Then they run attacks on Obama when right now all most people want to hear about are the issues at hand now .He voted with bush what 90 percent of the time . how is that helping any of us ?
Mrs. Brady -There is a list of one hundred economists who say Obama will be worse for our economy, and drive us into a deeper recession, if not depression. That is all you need to know, and that is a fact.
and there is a list of 500 economists that agree with Obama.
David right now from what I have read and have heard there are hundreds of economist who did not see how bad it was till it was to late and now none of them agree with each other even .
Mrs. Brady, with all due respect, Obama will drive us into a deeper recession, and maybee God, forbid, a depression. This is the consencous of 100 prominent economsts, not me.
David the same economsts said the same about McCain .
No, they did not-They said McCain was much better for the economy, and that is a FACT. In fact, they said Obama would drive us into a deeper recession, if not depression.
Well David not the ones I have heard or read .so we will agree to disagree
